COLAGROSS ELECTED TO SACSCOC BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Dr. Glenda Colagross, Interim President of Southern Union State Community College, was elected to the Southern Associate of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC ) Board of Trustees, Class of 2016, at the SACS COC Annual Meeting held in Atlanta December 7-10.
"I am very fortunate to have been elected to serve as the two-year college representative from Alabama on the SACS Board of Trustees. The knowledge that I will gain from serving on the Board will not only help me professionally but will help the Alabama Community College System as well”, said Colagross.
Colagross, who served as Vice-President at Northwest Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals before coming to Southern Union, has served as a consultant for colleges throughout the SACS region to develop institutional effectiveness systems and to prepare SACS documents for a number of years.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. It serves as the common denominator of shared values and practices among the diverse institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Latin America and other international sites approved by the Commission on Colleges that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degrees. The Commission also accepts applications from other international institutions of higher education.
