New Microsoft Outlook Email Account Information
Before you can log into your new email account you will have to claim your account.

All Southern Union Students and Employees will now need to use their alabama.edu account to access email using Microsoft Outlook. To access your new email account follow the steps below.

  Claim Account

If you didn't receive a claim email to your personal email address from donotreply@rapididentity.com please check your SPAM folder first. If you are unable to find the email, submit a support request using the link below.

  Log Into New Account

Once you have claimed your new account you can use the link below to login and start using your new email account. You will need to use the following format:

Email: Your A Number@alabama.edu (Example, a012345678@alabama.edu
Password: The password you setup during the claiming process.

If you have already claimed your account, but have issues logging in, you can use the "Forgot Password" option at the login screen. To reset your password follow the steps below.

  1. You will first need to enter your ANumber@alabama.edu, then click Next.
  2. Then you will be able to select the "Forgot Your Password?" option.

You will then receive an email to your PERSONAL EMAIL account with a password reset link.

  Microsoft Authenticator App

You will be required at some point to use the Microsoft Authenticator App to access your email. The easiest way to do this is to use your smart phone and a computer. To set up, download the Microsoft Authenticator App from your app store. When you are prompted during the email login process to set up Authenticator, open the App and follow the prompts. During the set up you will be prompted to scan a QR code using the App.

Students

No information from your Google account will be transferred to your new alabama.edu account. You can still access your files and emails prior to July 12, 2024. Students can access thier old Gmail account from any Gmail sign-in page using the old @mail.suscc.edu email address and password associated with this account.  Please note that although you can still access your files and old emails you can no longer send/receive emails to this account. Support will be limited for Gmail accounts.

Students will need to continue to use their current login credentials (@mail.suscc.edu) to login to the mySUSCC portal even if the new email address has been claimed.

Canvas Information

Canvas Announcements

May 28, 2024 - Summer 2024 students
Attendance verification is due May 28th. Please make sure that you have logged into all your courses and completed the attendance verification assignments. If your attendance is not verified, you will be dropped from courses on May 29th.

If any students are still having problems accessing the new Canvas site and courses, you should contact support@suscc.edu.


New Canvas Site Link

Beginning Summer 2024 Semester, Southern Union will be using a new Canvas site requiring students to use their new alabama.edu account to log in. Returning students should receive an email to their personal email address listed in the mySUSCC student web portal from donotreply@rapididentity.com. This email contains important information on setting up the new alabama.edu account. New students will be sent login information for their alabama.edu account to the personal email address listed on the Southern Union admissions application.


Important Canvas Course Information
The new Canvas system will update student courses to the Canvas dashboard (once courses are added to the student's schedule) every evening. Depending on when a student registers, it can take up to 4-6 hours for courses to show up in Canvas. For example, if a student registers on May 20th at 7:00 p.m. it could be sometime around 6:00 p.m. on the following day (May 21st) before the course is available.

Username: Anumber@alabama.edu (Example, A012345678@alabama.edu
Password: Password set up during the claiming of your new account

You can also reset your password by using the "Forgot Password" option on the login screen.

Troubleshooting your Account:

If you have claimed your account and still cannot login to the new Canvas site you can use the "Forgot Your Password" option.  A password reset code will be sent to the personal email address you have listed in the mySUSCC student portal.

If you are still having login issues after trying to the "Forgot Your Password" option, email support@suscc.edu. Make sure to include your A number and the personal email address you are currently using.

If you can login but are having issues with the Canvas dashboard or products used with Canvas like Pearson's MyLab please let your Instructor know. 


Respondus Lockdown Browser Setup for New Canvas Site

For those of you using Respondus Lockdown Browser for the summer, there is a new download link: 
https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=638734078. The page has Wallace Community College listed, but this is the correct download for SUSCC for now. Watch the video on using the Lockdown Browser. Note that there is a different link in the middle section for installing the browser for a MAC computer.

Steps to Install Respondus

  1. Using the provided link, go through the process of downloading the browser to your computer. If another version of Lockdown is already installed on your computer, you must choose Second Institution or Uninstall the old instance.


     
  2. Continue to install and click Finish.
     
  3. Go to your desktop and open the Lockdown Browser icon.

     
  4. You will be prompted to select "ACCS Blackboard" or "ACCS Instructure Canvas" from the dropdown menu. 
  5. Choose ACCS Instructure Canvas.

  6. Log in to your account using your newly claimed email address, A########@alabama.edu, and the password you set up when you completed the claim process.
     

  7. You will then be logged into your Canvas account through the Lockdown Browser and can navigate to the course and quiz you plan to complete.


Canvas App

In order to use the Canvas App for the summer semester, students will need to add ACCS as another school in the Canvas App. This will allow students to select the ACCS account to view summer courses.


Microsoft Authenticator App

After signing into the new Canvas site students will have 14 days to setup Microsoft's Authenticator app on a mobile device.
