Southern Union State Community College Academic Internship Program provides field-of-study-related work experience for students who are pursuing a degree and/or certificates in one of the approved programs of study and establishes and strengthens the relationship between the Company and the College in order to ensure mutual reinforcement between college curricula and the world of work. The program is an educational opportunity based upon a cooperative arrangement by the college and employers to provide practical work experiences for students.

For additional information on the program including eligibility requirements and selection process, visit the Academic Internship Program page.

Job Shadowing
During a job shadowing experience, the student typically follows a mentor or experienced employee, watching how they handle tasks, solve problems, and interact with colleagues. The goal is to give students a realistic view of the day-to-day activities and demands of the role, as well as insights into the required skills and qualifications. Job shadowing can range from a few hours to a few days, depending on the company and the needs of the student. Through adequate preparation, job shadowing should serve as a highly immersive learning experience.
